Ben Affleck’s directorial debut “Gone Baby Gone” is a mystery drama focusing on the search for a missing four year old girl. It was also co-written by Affleck and adapted from a novel of the same name written by Dennis Lehane, author of other books that went on to be adapted for the big screen such as “Mystic River” and “Shutter Island”. It stars Affleck’s brother Casey as private detective Patrick Kenzie, and Michelle Monaghan as his partner slash girlfriend Angie Gennaro. The aunt of a missing four year old girl hires them to investigate her disappearance. He is soon informed that the child’s mother and her boyfriend have stolen money from a local crime lord. When the boyfriend is killed, Patrick and Angie start working together with the police detectives investigating the murder. They arrange a meeting with the said crime lord to exchange the stolen money for the little girl who they believe was kidnapped by said crime lord. The exchange goes wrong. The crime lord is shot and killed, and it seems that the little girl has drowned. With the case seemingly over, Patrick moves on to other work, but he will soon begin to suspect that there was more to the story than he thought at first.
