What is the movie Gone with the Wind about?
1939 historic romance “Gone with the Wind” was a juggernaut of cinema. Upon its release the film has smashed every existing box office record (and held it for over a quarter of the century) and one more Academy awards than any other film before it. Starring Clark Gable as Rhett Butler and Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara, the film is set in the 19th century American South, with the American Civil War and the later Restoration happening in the background of the films main events. At the start of the first part it’s 1861, just before the beginning of the Civil War, and Georgia men are enlisting for the Confederate Army. Soon the horrors of war begin to show when young wives are widowed, their farms burned and their towns occupied. Scarlett vows to keep her family together through the turmoil. In the second part the war is over, but an even greater personal war is ahead for Scarlett. With no money to sustain her plantation, she marries a rich store owner, but she is soon widowed. She later marries Rhett, even though she still secretly pines for her long lasting love, the husband of his cousin. Her desire turns her personal life into a complete mess. She and Rhett have a baby, but afterwards their relationship is badly damaged. When Scarlett has an incidental miscarriage, and later when their first child dies, Rhett leaves Scarlett saying that there’s nothing that connects them anymore. Scarlett realizes that she has loved Rhett all along, and vows to one day win back his affection.

The best movie on love ever! I have watched it zillion of times! This is the movie of all the times! I totally love it! Great plot, acting and most powerful romantic love scenes! All romantics will adore the film as well as they like the book! I wish I could resemble Scarlett O’Hara; she is my favorite character in this film. Her beauty and the will power make me jealous.

As soon as i finished reading the book i have decided to watch the movie immediately. I should say that i got a bit scared with the fact that both parts of this movie last a bit longer than four hours. But from the other side it is pretty obvious to me, because there are so many important details in this movie, that i have no clue how they fit into those four hours. Of course some of the important moments were still cut out from the movie, but it didn’t ruined my impression about it at all! I should mention that no matter the duration of the movie it is very easy for me to watch it. I liked how it was showed the difficult period of the war time, not too much tragedy and drama. I can say that my heart was conquered by Rhett Battler once and forever, unfortunately now i will look for a man who will look and behave like him! And the actress Vivien Leigh was simply a perfect Scarlet she was exactly like i imagined her! I think all the great pluses of this movie cover pretty well and easy its minuses!

The book “Gone with the wind” is one of my favorite ones since my childhood! I do not really like watching movies that are filmed on the basis of my favorite books, as the images of the characters that i have imagined in my head are always destroyed by the characters i see in the movie, and they change my good impressions. But this movie has become that rare exemption for me when everything in the movie looks decent and with lots of harmony.
I think that role of Scarlett is a very difficult one and has a lot of latitudes, and that no one could ever perform it better than Vivien Leigh! This movie is about a strong, intelligent and desperately lonely woman about the ways how she was going through all the difficulties in her life, and how she wanted to be happy no matter what, happy and loved! Due to her desires she doesn’t see the pain of the other people, because she is trying to stand no matter what, and her phrase “I will think about it tomorrow” has become one of the main ones in my life as well! This movie is pure classics that will always stay modern!

It is a very interesting movie which received a few Oscar awards. Of course the book is even more interesting but the movie is not bad either. The main actors are simply perfect for the roles. The gorgeous beauty Vivienne Leigh who successfully built herself into the character of Scarlet O'Hara that even while reading the book i always imagined her face and manners when i was imagining Scarlet. And the same thing i can say about Clark Gable, about the actor who played Rhett Butler's role.
The only thing i didn't quite like was the fact that Melanie in the movie looked very good, not stunning beauty like Scarlet but still quite pleasant, while in the book she was described as not being very attractive. The movie is very intense and beautiful, and it is perfect for viewing it with the family. This is what i call movie for all the times. I would not say that it is historical one, simply the historical facts are shown in a artistic way. I suggest everyone to see it.
