Psychiatrists are the people who spend most of their education on learning how people behave, get the concept of the reality, what kinds of disorders there are when it comes to being normal or not, how to treat those people to make them feel better and deal with their issues. One of those psychiatrists is Dr. Miranda Grey (Halle Berry). She is one of the experts when it comes to evaluating if someone has lost the touch with the reality. Dr. Douglas Grey (Charles S. Dutton) is her husband and the chief of the department. One of her best friends is her colleague Pete (Robert Downey Jr.). After one hard working day, Miranda goes home as usual, but when the police officer tells her that she must take a detour, because of the works on the road, Miranda takes the longer way. At one moment, she sees a young girl in the middle of the road and gets into accident. After getting out of the car and trying to see if the girl was unharmed, she has a blackout. The next thing she knows is that she wakes up locked up in the same institution she was working until yesterday. But, that wasn't yesterday. From that point on, she starts investigating what exactly happened and finds out that she had killed her husband as well as lots of other things, and she remembers nothing at all.
