Gran Torino is a movie about a man named Walt Kowalski who is a Korean War veteran who has just lost his wife. His whole world is changed, as well as his neighborhood. His all-white community is now mostly Southeast Asian and he doesn't get along with his sons and grandchildren. However, he loves his 1927 Gran Torino more than anything else. Thao Hmong, a teenager who lives next door, gets challenged by a group of local gang members to steal the car. He almost gets killed when Walt catches him in the act. Walt soon realizes that he has more in common with his neighbors than with his own family. Gradually, he takes Thao under his wing teaching him about life and helping him in getting a job. Gang members attack Thao's sister and shoot up his house, and Walt figures that the time for action is now. Clint Eastwood did an amazing job at portraying Walt Kowalski, it is obvious that he enjoyed this role and it suits him very well. Clint Eastwood manages to portray many emotions and he does it naturally without making it look like he is overacting. Gran Torino has drama, action and comedy, and a character to whom many can relate to. It is a well made movie which is definitely worth seeing.
