It is year 1959 in California and the new school year in Rydell High is about to begin. But, before it does, all the students, both current and future ones, try to enjoy in the sun and summer as much as possible. So, two main characters, tough guy Danny Zuko and a cute girl Sandy Olsson meet during the summer and fall in love. It was a sweet summer romance, but as the summer is gone, so is their relationship. As both of them meet on the first day of school, there are some unpleasant situations. Tough guy Danny doesn't want to admit that he wasn't so tough during the summer and wants to keep the respect from his boys, gang called T-Birds. On the other hand, Sandy is more than happy to see him and spend the school year with him, which makes Danny's reaction like a cold shower. Very soon after coming to high school, Sandy joins Pink Ladies, led by Rizzo. So, the main question for Danny is- will he be able to be himself or will he lose Sandy for good? Throughout this musical we see him as he balances between what he wants, dreams of, is expected to do. At one point we can see Danny and Sandy changing the roles and that is the best part of the movie.
