Every time the McCallister family decides to go somewhere, they always manage to forget something. It is the Christmas time and they can't wait to get to the airport, so they could spend their holidays in Paris. As the youngest of the kids in family, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) gets into a fight with his older brother Buzz (Devin Ratray) and gets grounded for that, he gets sent to his room. The problem is that his room is on the third floor of the house. So, when the whole family gets into the morning rush to get to the airport and catch the plane, they all somehow forget about Kevin. And while the parents are still in doubt if they forgot something, Kevin is more than thrilled to be home alone, ordering pizza, making a mess all over the place and having no one yelling at him or telling him what to do. But, there is one thing no one ever thought of- the news share the information about two burglars called "The Wet Bandits", Marv Merchants (Daniel Stern) and Harry Lime (Joe Pesci), who are going from house to house and robbing them. And as Kevin reveals that they are planning to rob his house, he is more than determined to defend it and keep them out.
