Experienced and accomplished as a writer Mark Evans took an interesting story and directed the movie that is from United Kingdom but not the dark comedy. Hunky Dorothy is drama with added elements of romance, music, teen comedy and a touch of Shakespeare. Story is happening in hot summer of 1976. Character that is main pillar of the action is drama teacher Vivienne (Minnie Driver). She has the idea that is for that time very ambitious. She intends to make performance like Shakespearean rock opera. Back in 1976 rock performers were David Bowie, Nick Drake, ELO and Beach Boys. Vivienne is very passionate about her play and she is willing to put her soul in working with kids. Teens are not always easy to work with. They have their problems and desires, that are placed order with no apparent logic. Vivienne has huge expectations and believes in children that she works with. She even fights for them. She fights with other teacher so they can reveal and explore new emotions and things they never experienced before. Stuck between teens and other teachers, Vivienne has endure and keep faith in her work. Is Vivienne going to be disappointed because of high expectations, or performance is going to be success? It is interesting how she encouraged kids to grow up and how she supported them. Movie has elements of musical and it is legit drama
