What is the movie Jimmy P. about?
There are not much movies about war veterans, and even less about Native American veterans. "Jimmy P." tells the story of a former soldier that was injured in the war, Jimmy Picard, who is played by Benicio Del Toro, and he has some serious problems. He has some kind of seizures and can't seem to difference between dreams and reality at that point. As he's handled by many doctors who think he has schizophrenia or something similar. But, before they cut his head open and do something, there is yet another opinion to be heard. They call a French psychiatrist Dr. Georges Devereux, who is played by Mathieu Amalric, and let him work with Jimmy for a while. As they spend lots of time together in their sessions and talk about all sorts of things, Dr. Deveraux discovers that Jimmy is actually not ill, but punishes himself after losing many connections with his culture and his folks. This movie talks about accepting different cultures and different people for who they are, as well as their costumes. Otherwise, there could be severe mental damages done to these persons, if they try to be what they're not in order to fit in the society. This tense and engaging drama lasts 117 minutes, it was directed by Arnaud Desplechin and released in December 2013.
