What is the movie Joyful Noise about?
When you combine Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton there is only one thing you can get from a movie- totally hysterically crazy comedy piece. Storyline for this movie was both written and directed by Todd Graff, who had a vision and made it 100% true. It all starts in a quiet little town in Georgia, where we meet two main characters, Vi Rose Hill and G.G. (Dolly Parton). After the sudden death of the church choir director Bernard Sparrow (Kris Kristofferson), there is a necessity for a new director. As one of the best persons for that job has been voted Vi Rose Hill. She is a local nurse and is just trying to make it through as a single parent with her daughter. On the other side, we have Bernard's widow, G.G., who is wealthy and one of the biggest donors to the church. With that in her mind and the fact that her husband was previous director, she is convinced that she should have gotten that place instead of Vi Rose. And, that's when the fun begins. Watching two of them fighting over choir and experimenting moments before they lead them to a singing competition is simply hilarious. And in all that chaos, G.G's grandson falls in love with Vi Rose's daughter, so, it's pretty tense between two of these ladies, but in a comic way. The plot isn't complex and it's pretty easy to follow. So, that all makes this movie perfect choice for night with friends.
