Almost two hour long mix of drama and comedy comes from land of the love. Title Mental suits the movie better than any other possible name. It is mental at it’s finest and sends important messages to the audience. This is brain child of P. J. Hogan. Hogan is born and raised in Brisbane so humour that is present in Mental is typical for Australia. Movie is about Moochmore girls who are dealing with problems that average kids have. They believe that they have some mental illness because it is easier for them to accept illness than being unpopular. With unrealistic demands they put pressure on their mother. Without support of their father, mom experiences a metal melt down. After she gets placed in hospital because of nervous breakdown, father seeks help from people that are totally mental. Interaction between girls and these strange people will bring a lot of funny scenes and lines. Important messages are placed in these lines. Movie is not naive at all and it tells children many things that their parents are not capable of. Hayley Magnus, Nicole Freeman, Chelsea Bennett and Bethany Whitmore gave nice performances by acting sisters. Rest of the crew gave their personal stamps to the movie. This movie is mental blend of drama and comedy. It is great choice for parents who have little bit older kids.
