Gil (acted by Owen Wilson), a successful Hollywood screen writer, has a vacation in Paris with his fiancée, Inez (played by Rachel McAdams). They are travelling together with Inez’s parents, wealthy and conservative, who cannot understand Gil’s vocation as a writer and together with their daughter are pushing him to leave his carrier. Gil is struggling on his first novel about a man, who works in nostalgia shop and Paris with its history and streets is a great source of inspiration for Gil. He totally falls in love with this romantic city and wants to stay there forever, but his future wife is against this, as she sees no romance in the grey city and prefers living in Malibu after they marry. She also cannot share her fiancé’s love to the French and the golden age of 1920s. In one of the evenings, when Inez is out for a dancing party with friends, Gil starts for a night walk in Paris and at midnight a wonderful thing happens, he is transformed to the epoch of 1920s. This discovery makes him closer to Paris and its famous people, he admires, helping in completing his book, but at the same time brings him further from Inez, who he intends to marry soon…
