What is the movie Missing Pieces about?
“Missing pieces” is a deep and touching drama directed by young and enthusiastic Kenton Bartlett. Kenton was only 19 when they started shooting this film, and they’ve been shooting it for more than three years. This piece is without any doubt not a mainstream movie, but if there’s any justice it’ll get an Independent Spirit Award. The whole story is based on a true love of two people, who for some reason have broken up. Delia left her boyfriend, who’s madly in love with her. He couldn’t even bear the thought of not having her by his side and as a result he concocts a very deluded and strange plan to win back her affection. He chooses quite a nonconformist strategy to make her fall in love with him again. Instead of sending her flowers and gifts as any ordinary man would do, he kidnaps her and locks Delia in some deserted place. You would probably think it is a very weird movie, but it’s extraordinarily moving. Delia is David’s missing part, and he would do anything to win her back, even kidnap her. “Missing pieces” is definitely an underdog product, but it doesn’t mean it’s not worth seeing.

I had the pleasure of seeing this movie in Los Angeles while having a meeting with my new director now. What can I say? Kenton Bartlett has a bright future ahead. His performance as well as handling of each actor is impressive, even more so given this is his first time as a movie writer/director. The tone, style and performances are consistent through the entire film. I recommend the movie for story as well for all the attributes mentioned above. It is one thing to see great cast and performance from veteran actors like Mark Boone Junior but when you see unknown talent carry their own with a depth and presence, to me, that is a sign of a gifted director.
