People often say that what happens in college stays with you for life and friends you make there are friends for life, like a family. The same thing is with Dexter and Emma. Two of them met at college and were friends throughout the whole time. After finally graduating, they fell in love and spend the night. And since that moment, we get to take a peek into their lives on each anniversary, which is on July 15th. We get to follow their lives parallel as they grow up and what kind of relationship they are in. Emma (Anne Hathaway) is a smart lovable girl, but not very successful, while Dexter (Jim Sturgess) has so much charisma, that he is popular and famous TV star. Along with success, Dexter also has no problem with women. As they grow up and start changing, only one thing remains the same- they are still friends. Each year they manage to see each other on the anniversary of the day when they met for the first time. The audience gets to see how the characters develop throughout the time and under various circumstances. After 20 years, two of them finally realize that they do belong together, because he makes her happy and she makes him decent. Performances given by both Anne and Jim were extraordinary and simply perfect, as if you can feel the chemistry between them for real.
