What happens when you meet a former journalist with a simple everyday mature woman with a tragic story to tell? If you enjoy in watching drama movies with some biographic moments, then you'll simply love "Philomena".
Based on real life events, this drama was directed by Stephen Frears, who is best known for his movies "High fidelity" and "The Queen", and it was released in November 2013. The movie tells a story of a former mid aged journalist, Martin Sixsmith, that's played by Steve Coogan, who got fired from work and is trying to get his way back in. In pursuit of a good story to write, he meets an older women, Philomena, played by Judi Dench, who has had to give her son up and live in a convent while she was young. Philomena tells Martin a 50 year old kept secret. And so they set off to find out everything they can and find her son. Throughout their journey for finding her son, Martin and Philomena make a truly unique frendship and they develop a bond that will draw them closer than anyone they already know. Thanks to great casting crew, such as Steve Coogan and Judy Drench, Peter Hermann, Mare Winningham, the audience has the opportunity to see and experience emotional journey of a real life event, on which this film adaptation was based. Also a dose of satirical humor and irony is what makes everything spiced up.
