We all know how great are legends and tales of mystery robbers in time when kings ruled the world, when ladies had the best silk for their dresses and how brave were the knights in their service. This whole story is about those times. It starts with the period of time, when Richard I (Danny Huston) was the ruler of England. It was the year 1199. The funding of all the wars he had was pretty expensive, so he made taxes even greater than before. With lots of men died in battle, lots of orphanages left without their fathers and with almost no money, England had a serious problem. After the King died, Robin Longstride (Russell Crowe), a former archer in the King's service, an orphan himself, took over an identity of a Lord that had actually died in a battle. At that time, one of the English knights, Godfrey (Mark Strong) conspired against the current King, King John (Oscar Issac), making him pretty unpopular and unloved, so he could weaken England and share the throne with the French. As he is only one who is moral enough to do something about this conspiracy, Robin forms his own gang of archers and thieves in order to stop the greedy knights from bringing England down.
