Rubberneck is a low budget movie that takes a look at the subject of obsession. It follows a nerdy scientist who gets into a one night stand with a fellow colleague and develops a bizarre obsession with her. His name is Paul Harris, he works at a small research facility near Boston. Paul has a one night fling with a co-worker named Danielle but she soon takes interest in a new scientist in the laboratory. Paul can't stand that fact and his resentments and perverse delusions finally rise out of him and become unhinged leading to a tragic course of events. The movie develops slowly, a lot of attention is given to character development and the back-story. There are a few unexpected violent scenes which are bound to shock people not prepared for them since they happen so suddenly without a warning. The movie is supposedly based on a true story and the actors did a good job in representing their characters. The movie might be an indie flick, but that doesn't mean that there is no value in it. The movie is fun to watch, it can get pretty intense at some moments and the way characters develop is interesting to watch. Those who enjoy a good movie and don't care about the budget of the movie will definitely have a blast with this one.
