Whenever you get stressed out on business, there is a way to release the tension- by dancing. That is what a big time lawyer John Clark (Richard Gere) discovers one night. He is actually a pretty happy man. He has a great job, where he is successful, his wife is loving and charming, and he has a great family. Each night as he comes back from work, he sees a young lady starring through the window of a dance studio and gets intrigued by her. One night, he decides to get out on that station and goes to try and meet her. He gets into that dance studio, signs up for classes and hopes to see her. As he isn't the only one who is on that dance floor and clumsy, there is no problem, but his dance teacher isn't that woman he saw. It turns out that the name of that woman is Paulina (Jennifer Lopez). As the time goes by, he manages to meet her, but it turns out that she is pretty icy and takes her dancing seriously. At the same time, he starts falling in love with the dance itself, not with her, which takes his interest for everything on a whole new level. Still, he tries to keep his new obsession a secret from everyone at work as well as from his family. And as one of the biggest competitions in Chicago is coming closer, he is getting into more and more trouble by keeping it a secret.
