At the very beginning of the movie, we gets to know Emily Taylor, who is portrayed by Rooney Mara. She suffers from depression and is trying to cure her affliction. So that takes her from psychiatrist to psychiatrist, always trying out some new medications. Her husband, Martin Taylor, is the one who is held responsible for her medications and to give her the right dosage as well. It all starts to turn upside down, when one day Emily kills her husband during one of her sleepwalks. She blames the drug and her psychiatrist, who had it prescribed to her in the first place. From that point on, Jonathan Banks, who is played by Jude Law, is up against the whole world, pharmaceuticals, and medical ethics during the trial. Emily gets admitted to a mental institution and his name remains buried in dirt, as his carrier crumbles down. Since he is unable to accept that it was all his fault, Jonathan sets out on his own to try and solve this mystery murder and clear his name. As this movie has lots of thriller scenes and lots of drama, it is safe to say that no one in the audience will be able to fall asleep after seeing this movie. It is so tense, that you won't know what to do until the last moment. Which is exactly what the director Steven Soderbergh had in mind when he directed this movie.
