Based on the story written by Douglas J. Eboch, C. Jay Cox did a screenplay adaptation for a movie that tells the story about how the life changes you over the course of time. It was directed under the strong hand of Andy Tennant. At the beginning of the movie we get to meet Melanie Carmichael (Reese Witherspoon), a high class fashion designer. She lives and works in New York. Her life is perfect.. Well, almost perfect to be exact. And as all the people, she has her own secrets, but for her, that is more than just a secret. With all the fame and glory that comes, she also has a hot and very famous fiancé, the son of New York Mayer. After he proposes her, she is left speechless. Some of it is because of the way he proposed, some of it is because she is already married and he doesn't know that. So, after she accepts, she takes off for Alabama, her home town, to inform her family and set things straight with her husband. Although she had sent him divorce papers several years ago, he never signed them and he still refuses to sign them. As the story goes on, we see her getting second thoughts, because she realizes that she had run away from a life that was already perfect as it was.
