Sweetwater is a western thriller starring Ed Harris, January Jones and Jason Isaacs. It is a story set in the late 1800s talking about a former prostitute who is trying to build an honest life with her husband in New Mexico. Sadistic and powerful religious leader notices her and violently turns her life upside down. She embarks on a bloody trip of vengeance with the help of a renegade sheriff who also has pretty violent tendencies. Westerns are pretty rare nowadays, it seems that the time when John Wayne ruled the screen has been forgotten. Sweetwater shows up and proves that western movies are not dead. The entire movie is shot on beautiful locations without the use of needless special effects. One might say that this movie has soul, and it is hard to disagree with it. The actors did an excellent job, especially the ones playing lead roles. The props are stunning, everything feels as if it was recorded during the 1800s. The costumes are also lovely and add plenty to the entire atmosphere of the movie. Those who are thinking that the time of westerns is over should see Sweetwater and think again. This movie proves that it is possible to make an excellent movie without the help of too many special effects and without the use of CGI. If you want to see a good action flick, then do check this one out!
