The Book Thief is a war drama based on a novel by Markus Zusak set in the World War II era. It is a story of Liesel Meminger who is traveling with her mother and her younger brother who later dies. Her brother is buried at a cemetery by the tracks and Liesel picks up a book left by someone near the grave of her brother. Liesel is delivered to a foster family and learns that her mother has left her because she is a communist. Her stepmother is rude but caring, and her stepfather is a simple man but kind hearted. Liesel finds a friend in her next door neighbor Rudy Steiner and together they go to school. Her stepfather learns that she can't read so he teachers her using the book she took from the grave and she becomes an obsessed reader. During the Nazi book burning Liesel picks up one of the books from the pile but she is noticed by the major's wife. The war starts and everything changes in Liesel's life. The Book Thief is a touching and a warm movie, it is fun to watch and it never gets boring. The sets in the movie look gorgeous and they make the viewer feel like the movie was shot during the World War II. The movie can be watched by adults and younger ones.
