The Citizen is a drama directed and written by Sam Kadi, starring Khaled Nabawy, Agnes Bruckner and Rizwan Manji. It is a story of a man who is craving to leave his life of misfortune in the Middle East. His name is Ibrahim Jarrah and he is lucky enough to win the US Green Card Lottery for a chance of becoming an American citizen. He lands in New York City the day before 9/11 happens. The events which happen on that day forever shape his journey to capture the American dream. This movie is inspired by true events which make for a tale of love, courage and perseverance. There are many movies dealing with the similar subject, but none of them can even compare to The Citizen. One of the most important things which people tend to forget is that not all the Arabs are terrorists, and that's one of the issues that this movie tries to explain. The other message is one of love, hope and respect for each other no matter what religion we follow. This story provides hope that one day people will realize that everyone is equal. The movie is beautifully written and acting is stellar. If you are in the mood for an amazing movie which will make you thing, then The Citizen is an excellent choice.
