What is the movie The Deep Blue Sea about?
From director and one of the screenplay writers Terence Davies comes a heartbreaking romance drama called The Deep Blue Sea. The story takes place in time right after the World War the Second in Britain. Hester Collyer (Rachel Weisz) is a wife of a pretty wealthy judge, Sir William (Simon Russell Beale), and she is unhappy and romantic soul trapped in a marriage without love. For her, that is unthinkable. So, the only two options that come in mind are either to take her own life or to have an affair. At that point she comes to meet Freddie (Tom Hiddleston), who is a royal air force pilot, and falls for him instantly. They feel immediate attraction between each other and start having an affair. As their passion grows, she thinks of leaving her husband. By comparing her husband with Freddie, who then seems irresponsible and selfish. Now, she finds herself in a pretty bad situation, having to decide what and with whom of two of them she's going to go on. As it seems like there is no way out, she begins to rethink the idea of taking her life. Should she do it? With Rachel Weisz in the role of Hester and Tom Hiddleston as her lover Freddie, this couple will surely take your attention captive for the whole duration of the movie.
