Well known tandem director Larry Charles and writer-actor Sacha Baron Cohen, also known as Borat, had lot of fun making masterpiece The Dictator. Very talented 43 year old Sacha Cohen is playing oppressive leader Hafez Aladeen. Eccentirc Aladeen rules Wadiya. Wadiya will remind you of some countries like North Korea and Turkmenistan. Larry and Sacha put Wadiya on purpose near Israel. With Aladeen representing almost all communist dictators and Wadiya clearly muslim country made to look like North Korea there is lot of space for dark twisted humor. In this funny yet serious 83 minutes you will see that even great dictators have basic human needs, for example to cuddle. In background of this parody is serious criticism of USA and western way of life wrapped in sarcasm. The dictator Hafez Aladeen is summoned to a UN assembly to be questioned about his nuclear weapons program. UN assembly is in New York where former Wadiya citizen and former leading scientist involved in nuclear program meets Aladeen again. As it happens in most comedies tables turn fast for our dictator. He ends up on the streets of New York with nothing but his skills and tough personality. With mission to prevent conspiracy and to reclaim his life back Hafez is learning that west is not much different than his Wadiya. During this period he falls in love with liberal girl that is his other half. This comedy in essence is thriller and it is something that is needed to be watched couple times.
