From Rolf de Heer, one of the best filmmakers, comes a hilarious Australian comedy called The King Is Dead! This director is famous for hi movies Bad Boy Bubby, Ten Canoes, The Tracker, so if you watched at least one of them, you already know what to expect from this one as well. It is a black urban comedy that deals with life in the suburbs in Adelaide, Australia. On one side we have a mild guy Max (Dan Wyllie) and his wife Therese (Bojana Novakovic). They have just bought a house in a quiet nice neighbourhood and are moving in. On the other side, there are Otto (Roman Vaculik), Maria (Michaela Cantwell) who have cute girl Mirabelle (Lily Adey). Next to all of them lives The King (Gary Waddell), who is a pretty paranoid guy and who has drug dealers for friends. Since the music is loud, they sit outdoors and drink beer all the time, yell and have fun, Max and Therese try to be good neighbours and don't react. But, after getting robbed a couple of times, they report it to the police. Since there are no evidence, police is unable to react. From that point on, they decide to take the matter into their own hands and make him move out from there. After all, the only thing they need to do is scare him good, since he already is a paranoid guy. As the story goes on, we see that their plan doesn't actually go the way they wanted it to.
