Science always goes ahead. Sometimes more than the rest of the humanity is ready for. This time, the scientists have found the way to revive the creatures of the past, but along with them, they managed to revive the diseases as well. That caused a mass contamination and the most of the world population was infected with an unknown disease. That caused them to turn into the same kind of monsters they were bitten by. Although most of the human kind is no more, there is a small part of them left. They are lead by Uri (Tertius Meintjes), one of the tribe leaders. His son Savan (Corey Sevier) is one of the best hunters and his friend Kaleb (Sam Claflin) is the best tracker. Secretly Kaleb is in love with Savan's wife, Dorel (Annabelle Wallis),Together they make an invincible team. The Gray Rock is their home. After an attack, they encounter the stranger called Amal (Sean Bean), who invites this trio to join him and his wife Neenah (Jessica Haines), as well as their son Persk. They live outside of the Gray Rock, along the river that protects them. Soon, Amal tells them that Kaleb's father had discovered a gray powder that can turn the creatures back into the human form. But, since Gagen (Jonathan Pienaar) stole the powder and kept it to himself, this trio now must find the way to defeat him and get the yellow powder in order to bring it to the tribe.
