The movie stars Christopher Waltz, a two-time Academy Award winner (Inglorious bastards, Django Unchained), as Qohen Leth. Qohen is a reclusive and eccentric computer genius troubled with existential angst. He lives isolated in an abandoned burnt-out church working hardly on a mysterious project. It is worth noting that the aforementioned project was personally delegated to him by Management (Matt Damon). Its main objective is to discover the meaning of life or probably the lack of it. Qohen prefers to work alone, but even in his isolated shelter he’s being constantly disturbed by various people. These unwanted visits drive him crazy so he tries to put an end to them. He doesn’t really trust anyone, and he doesn’t want anybody visiting him and distracting him from work. Here are some of his numerous visitors: Management’s wunderkind son Bob (Lucas Hedges), flirtatious Bainsley (Melanie Thierry), would-be digital therapist Dr. Shrink-Rom (Tilda Swinton) and Bob’s unpredictable colleague Joby (David Thewlis). Only then he fells under the spell of desire and love and finally realizes what his own reasons for being are.
