The first feature length film for Pixar, “Toy Story” (1995) was met with overwhelming critical and commercial success and is now considered one of the greatest animated films ever made. When the doors are closed and there are no humans around, one boy’s toys have a life of their own. The leader of the gang is Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll who is Andy’s favorite toy. However, the tranquility of their toy lives is threatened when a new toy enters the household. Buzz Lightyear is a cocky astronaut action figure who quickly becomes not only Andy’s new favorite toy, but also becomes the center of attention of all the other toys, which makes Woody insanely jealous. Unlike the rest of the toys, Buzz is unaware of his “toyness” and instead believes he truly is a space ranger who needs to get back to his planet. Through a series of unfortunate events, both Buzz and Woody get lost in the outside world, and later taken by Andy’s neighbor Sid who has a habit of torturing and disfiguring toys. The unlikely pair hatches a plan to escape the sadistic kid, but Buzz becomes dispirited when he catches a “Buzz Lightyear” commercial on TV. Woody whips him back in shape and they make a desperate attempt to reach Andy before he moves into a different house.
