If you don't find the title itself familiar, then maybe the story of the first part will refresh your memory. It all started when Kevin Flynn tried to make a game and got pulled in it. His disappearance was legendary and no one could understand how he left his young boy behind and just gone. About 20 years later we have Sam Flynn, who is technology geek and knows his way with computers. The company that was left to him by his father is run by some other people, because he isn't interested enough. Sam only cares about himself and finding his dad. At one point, he gets a message telling him to go to old arcades and there he finds more than he was hoping to. As his father, Sam gets sucked into game as well. But, it's not the same. Lots has changed after his father came in. The image of self that Kevin created to help him has became corrupted and is looking for a way to cross to the other side, to be with humans and to destroy everyone who aren't perfect. That's when Sam gets into the game. The only thing he needs to do is to stay alive. As his adventure uncovers, we see their father-son relationship getting better but still, Sam has to leave the game world without him. Instead Kevin rescues a young girl Quorra and sends her off with his son. Amazing acting skills of Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde were mind blowing. Also, they used lots of new technology to make this movie as great as it is.
