Doug Dearth is experienced as an actor, director, producer and a writer. With huge experience in many fields of filmmaking, he filmed an independent movie under title Underdogs. He showed, with this movie, that with skills and talent limited budget is not the problem. Also he shot the movie in only one month. With cinematography that can parry to most today’s Hollywood movies, Underdogs proves that Doug has some serious skills and knowledge. Story is written by Benjamin Suarez and David Latham wrote screenplay. Without them there would be no movie so we have to give them deserved credit. Story is placed in a rural Ohio in a small town. It follows high school football team that is going to play with well known rival. Their rival has tradition of being dominant, more powerful and always favourite. Our team that movie follows has talented players but their moral is crushed from the beginning and they lack in motivation. It is predictable that someone has to aspire them. That is job for new trainer. Movie Underdogs is family drama about sport. With situation where unmotivated team is almost destined to lose the game, Doug had space to present character development. With all changes that young players are going trough, Underdogs will keep attention of entire family for full 102 minutes.
