Even though he has been primarily known as an actor, Clint Eastwood has been honing his directing skills for decades before scoring a runaway hit with “Unforgiven”, in which he stars as well. “Unforgiven” earned him an Academy award for best director, and a nomination for best actor as well. Eastwood plays the Role of Will Munny, a former gunslinger turned farmer. Munny gets pulled back into the world of criminals and hired guns when his farm begins to crumble and he is hired to avenge the death of a prostitute killed by two men in Big whiskey, Wyoming. He recruits his old pal Ned Logan (Morgan Freeman) to join him in hunting down the two killers. Big Whiskey is run by a ruthless sheriff Little Bill Daggett (Gene Hackman) who doesn’t want any hired killers in his town and deals with them swiftly and mercilessly. Upon his arrival, Munny is beaten by the sheriff’s men and ordered to leave, but after he recuperates he is back on the killers’ trail. He manages to kill one of them, after which Ned Logan decides to go back home, while Munny chooses to stay and finish the job. After killing the second wanted man, he learns that Logan has been caught, tortured and killed by sheriff Daggett. He collects the money and splits it between his own family and Logan’s, then goes back to Big Whiskey to avenge the death of his friend, bringing the story to the final showdown between Munny and sheriff Daggett and his henchmen
