V for Vendetta is a movie set in a futuristic Britain which is filled with torture cells, prejudice against the minorities and unfair punishments. It is a dreary and dark setting and people are afraid. However, amidst all of the chaos and confusion there is one man known only by the name V who dares to rise up against the oppressive government and gets labeled a terrorist. V rescues a young woman named Evey Hammond and as the time passes she becomes V's ally. Even tho V is passionate and fights for justice, he has his own bitterness and hatred towards the government for some things they did to him in the past. November 5 approaches, the day on which the people who follow V will rise up and stand against the government. One detective named Finch is determined to discover the truth behind the mysterious persona of a man named V. This search makes him question himself and the government he serves. Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving as well as Stephen Rea did an amazing job at portraying their roles, they bring the characters to life and they never overact. There is a certain type of chemistry between them and they fit well together. V for Vendetta is an interesting story of people rising up against oppressive regimes and it is a movie from which many people will learn something. Definitely give this movie a go if you haven't seen it already.
