From Australia comes a very good drama. With limited and relatively low budget Kiearn Darcy-Smith directed movie “Wish You Were Here”. Story starts with two couples having fun in Asia. Alice (Felicity Price)and her husband Dave (Joel Edgerton) go to Cambodia with Alice’s sister Steph (Teresa Palmer). Teresa brings her new boyfriend Jeremy (Anthony Starr). At one point at vacation they party together, have fun and use ecstasy. During this time once Dave is seen walking around like he did something wrong. After holiday they went back to Sydney with Jeremy missing. Partying on holiday turned in something that threatens to rip apart family. Alice and Dave try to come back to life like it was before Cambodia. Even their kinds can’t motivate them to pull themselves together. When Dave confesses to Alice that he slept with her sister Steph this family goes to the breaking point. During all that time on top of everything Steph is dealing with sorrow. From “Land of the Love” comes heavy drama more complex than it looks like. “Wish You Were Here” contains several critics. They are all about modern western life. It shows how nowadays family life can be easily fractured. It shows how individuals who are living in the city are just small and constricted in their everyday routines. As maybe main thing, behaviour of young parents is presented in not so bright colors.
