It is pretty obvious from the movie’s name that “Yves Saint Laurent” is a biography drama film directed by Jalil Lespert. The whole film is based on the life story of one of the most famous and distinguished designers of the 20th century - Yves Saint Loran. From the first sight you may think that it is an ordinary biography film that abounds in chic clothes and glamour. But if you take a closer look you realize that it is a tragic story of a true love, the one that overshadows everything else. For Yves Saint Laurent love was more important than fashion. It is a truly art movie, despite of everybody’s expectations. When he was 18 years old Yves Saint Laurent moved to Paris where his mind blowing career started. The movie tells about all the major events from Yves’s life that have lead to his popularity and recognition as a talented designer. Fashion occupies a secondary place in this film, seeing as it focuses on Yves’s personal development. We learn a lot about his complicated relationship with his mother that wanted to suppress his personality.
